Job opening: Scientific Officer at EuroGOOS

EuroGOOS is looking for a full-time scientific officer to join the team in Brussels, Belgium.

The Scientific Officer will report directly to the Secretary General of EuroGOOS and will principally undertake work on the following tasks and topics:
Support the EuroGOOS secretariat in performing its duties in a number of H2020 funded projects primarily AtlantOS where the focus will be on:

  • Defining societal drivers for ocean observations in the Atlantic Basin;
  • Collect observing system requirements from various marine and maritime users;
  • Supporting development of recommendations for sustained monitoring of Essential Ocean Variables (EOVs);
  • Designing the web-based monitoring tool of the Atlantic ocean observing system;
  • Gathering information on member state observing systems, costs and gaps in such systems and jointly formulate plans for sustaining the system with national institutes;
  • Producing meeting reports.
