This workshop will showcase examples of ocean and sea ice applications for artificial intelligence in the Arctic. Presentations will highlight concrete use cases, with experiences of both working and non-working examples, demonstrating both the capabilities and limitations of AI for ocean and sea ice observing, modelling and analysis, as well as potential opportunities for future applications and collaborations.
Themes and topics anticipated to be covered by the workshop may include, but are not limited to:
- Ocean and sea ice observing and quality control of data
- Ocean and sea ice modelling (e.g. bias correction, reconstruction of variables, emulators, sub-grid processes, forecasts)
- High-resolution downscaling e.g. forecasting, climate, coastal applications
- Image processing and identification for biological applications (e.g. species recognition), iceberg identification, sea ice concentration and feature tracking, marine litter, harmful algal blooms and others
- Digital Twin of the Ocean applications for AI
Discussions between presenters and participants aim to identify recommendations for the development of Arctic ROOS and OceanPrediction DCC activities in the Arctic.
The full workshop agenda will be shared soon. There may be some opportunity for additional presentations (no guarantee). Interested speakers should contact the workshop organisers.
