AtlantOS is a Horizon 2020 project, under the Blue Growth-8 call 2014 on Developing in-situ Atlantic Ocean Observations for a better management and sustainable exploitation of the maritime resources. This research and innovation project proposes the integration of ocean observing activities across all disciplines for the Atlantic, considering European as well as non-European partners. AtlantOS strategic approach follows the IOC Framework for Ocean Observing, designed to help develop a sustainable, efficient, integrated, and fit-for-purpose global observing system.
A series of events will take place during the 2nd AtlantOS general assembly meeting:
- OECD – AtlantOS workshop ‘Economic Potential of Ocean Data from Scientific Observatories’;
- Workshop ‘Essential Ocean Variables’ for monitoring and assessment of marine biodiversity and ecosystem health – organized by the Cluster of Excellence;
- Annual meeting of the Ocean Tracking Network (Dalhousie University); and
- AtlantOS work package meetings.
