Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS) Steering Committee Meeting

The GOOS Steering Committee will discuss the observing system status drawing from the JCOMM report, the expanded survey of biological and ecological observations done by the BioEco panel, and the integrated reports of GOOS Regional Alliances Forum. The GOOS Office will present the draft GOOS Strategy. The meeting will also discuss the need for capacity development, and the expertise that the GOOS community can bring to the table. The IOC effort to develop a UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development and the recent SDG 14 Ocean Conference will also be addressed, along with the process to develop a binding agreement on the protection of biodiversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction (BBNJ). 

EuroGOOS will be represented at this meeting by Glenn Nolan, GOOS Steering Committee member, and Erik Buch, vice-chair of the GOOS Regional Alliances Forum.
