Date
25/03/2019 - 28/03/2019
The symposium will celebrate the success of the EU Research and Innovation Action AtlantOS and mark the beginning of the international Atlantic Ocean Observing System as the all-Atlantic part of the Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS), contribution to the GEO Blue Planet Initiative. At the event, AtlantOS BluePrint, a high-level strategy for Atlantic Ocean Observing, will be formally released.
The symposium will bring together scientists, policymakers, users, funders, and NGOs to articulate the joint ambition for ocean observing. It will provide input to the G7-Ocean group, the international OceanObs’19 conference, and the UN Ocean Decade preparations.
The 25 and 26 March segment will showcase successes, opportunities, and recommendations arising from the EU AtlantOS project. 27 March will focus on the perspectives from national and international ocean policymakers and reflect on national ocean observing ambitions. 28 March will focus on the benefits for business and civil society users.
EuroGOOS is involved in the programme committee of the symposium, as well as is an active partner in the AtlantOS project.
