Euro-Argo RISE workshop: Argo in the European Marginal Seas

Date
08/04/2021

Euro-Argo RISE (Euro-Argo Research Infrastructure Sustainability and Enhancement) is a European Union Horizon 2020 project that started on January 2019 for a duration of 4 years. The project involves 19 partners across Europe and is coordinated by the Euro-Argo ERIC.

The overarching objective of Euro-Argo RISE is to enhance and extend the capabilities of the Argo network to provide essential ocean observations to answer new societal and scientific challenges, supporting: 1) ocean and climate change research, 2) climate change monitoring (characterizing climate change impact on the ocean physics and chemistry, 3) seasonal and climate change forecasting by improving the 4D description of the ocean state, 4) ocean analysis and forecasting and associated ocean services including Copernicus Services.

The Argo in the European Marginal Seas workshops will discuss the Argo technical aspects and data use in the European sea basins, and the best practices of operating Argo floats in shallow waters. For the Arctic and Baltic also best practices on operating in seasonally ice-covered areas will be discussed. The role of Argo in addressing environmental policies and operational monitoring will also be highlighted.

Registrations are open until 25 March 2021.
