The Ocean Enterprise Initiative is relaunching its Dialogues with Industry series with a focus on Ocean Observing of the Future: Sensors, Instruments, Platforms, and the Market Ahead. This global forum brings together industry leaders, innovators, businesses, scientists, and government agencies to foster collaboration and spark new opportunities across the Ocean Information Value Chain.
Dialogue 1: Enablers, Infrastructure, Emerging Technologies
The first session will explore the building blocks needed to make ocean observing more accessible, cost-effective, and globally relevant. Key themes include:
-
The role of AI/ML in optimizing ocean data.
-
The value of expanding observations in under-monitored regions such as the Global South.
-
Emerging technologies that could dramatically reduce costs, from microchips to quantum navigation.
-
Criteria for identifying accessible sensors suitable for citizen science.
-
How start-ups and blue-tech clusters can accelerate innovation.
This dialogue will set the stage for the series by framing the market, scientific, and societal drivers that will shape the future of ocean observation.
