The European Commission’s DG MARE is organizing this conference, building on the success of the previous events in 2014 and 2015. The conference will focus on the added value of the blue economy in the Black Sea region and bring together entrepreneurs and policymakers. Ocean observing, underpinning blue economy development and ecosystem-based management, will be high on the agenda. Glenn Nolan, EuroGOOS Secretary General, will attend, representing the European ocean observing efforts.
Over the recent years, EuroGOOS has been working with the national organizations in the Black Sea to help enhance and sustain the ocean observing capacity in the region. The most recent meeting took place this spring in Bucharest, Romania, with the involvement of all the Black Sea country representatives.
