EuroGOOS and EMODnet Physics together with the Irish Marine Institute, are organizing a data workshop involving marine organisations from Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scottland and the UK.
The purpose of the workshop is to:
- Inform participants on current European marine data activities,
- Identify and reach out to organisations from public, research and private sectors that are managing a range of marine datasets and who are not yet connected and contributing to the existing European marine data management infrastructures, and
- Motivate and support those potential data providers to release their datasets for safekeeping and subsequent freely distribution.
The workshop will also inform about the process on how the inclusion of those marine datasets by means of a data ingestion service for publishing and making the submitted datasets fit for inclusion in the EMODnet data services and hence to the Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service, SeaDataNet and other ongoing initiatives. Glenn Nolan and Patrick Gorringe represent EuroGOOS at this meeting.
