The Horizon Europe FOCCUS project aims to extend the Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service to coastal areas

The Horizon Europe FOCCUS project is working to extend the Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service (CMEMS) to coastal areas, ensuring better integration between open ocean and coastal forecasting systems.

As part of this effort, we have launched a survey to gather insights from coastal forecasting centers on their current use of Copernicus Marine products. We invite developers and operators of coastal forecasting systems to participate and share their expertise.

Why Participate?

Your input will directly contribute to shaping a roadmap for enhanced interoperability between open ocean and coastal operational oceanography. To complement the information you provide, we will also reference the OceanPrediction Decade Collaborative Center (DCC) Atlas. While registration in the Atlas is not required, we encourage you to consider registering before completing the survey.

What Does the Survey Cover?

The survey addresses key ocean forecasting parameters, including:

  • Physical oceanography
  • Biogeochemistry
  • Waves
  • Sea ice

Feel free to share the survey with colleagues in your organization who may be able to provide input on specific sections.

Deadline: 15 February 2025
