The European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet) has released Vision 2035, outlining its strategy for evolving Europe’s in situ marine data services over the next decade. The Vision responds to the European Ocean Pact and sets out how EMODnet will scale to deliver integrated, actionable marine knowledge for policy, science, innovation, and the Blue Economy.
The Vision 2035 package includes a full report and a concise summary, serving as key resources for partners, national authorities, researchers, industry, and civil society.
Developed by a drafting group of 30+ EMODnet experts and coordinated by the EMODnet Secretariat, the Vision reflects the strength of EMODnet’s 133-partner network across 33 countries. It calls for further expansion to include all major ocean observation and data actors by 2030.
The EMODnet VISION 2035 is available as a full document, with extended recommendations and an accompanying VISION 2035 Summary offering a concise overview and key highlights from the EMODnet community Vision. Together, these serve as important resources for EMODnet partners, associated partners, and its full ecosystem of stakeholders, from data collectors and providers to service providers, users and funders, spanning EU Member States, national authorities and policy makers to research and academia, the private sector and society, including non-governmental organisations and citizen science.
