The MyOcean Follow On project organises a training workshop with a focus on Operational Oceanography in the Southern Mediterranean Sea. The workshop will take place in Alexandria, Egypt, between 4-5 March 2015. More information here.
The workshop will deal with technical and theoretical aspects related to access of the MyOcean products, in particular to met-ocean observations, operational monitoring platforms, numerical modelling and forecasting, data quality control and management, data assimilation and assessments, data archiving and dissemination. This training session is open to current or potential future users of MyOcean service having interests in the Mediterranean Sea (service providers or end users, scientific or business purposes).
The training will provide to the participants with an overview of coastal and open sea observatories in the Mediterranean Sea within the scope of the operational oceanography, at present and in the future. Trainees will be introduced to state-of-the-art methods and tools of operational oceanography and will learn how to access, download and view the MyOcean data, across inter-related disciplines from physics to ecology, and over wide geographic scales. They will experience how this links to data acquisition and forecasting systems, and to managing sustainable development for scientific and socio-economic purposes.
There is a deadline for registering to this event: 23 February 2015.
