Ocean observation is essential for the knowledge base of the Green Deal. Data are collected by different authorities for different purposes. The European Commission is planning a legislative initiative which aims to achieve a common EU approach for measuring once and using the data for many purposes. It will propose joint planning of observation activities and a framework for collaboration on a national and EU scale.
On Tuesday 23 February 2021 from 14:00 to 16:00 (CET) the European Parliament Intergroup Seas, Rivers, Islands & Coastal Areas (SEArica), in cooperation with the Directorate General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the European Commission and the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions is organising an online event to conclude the public consultation on Ocean Observation. The EuroGOOS Chair George Petihakis will join the speakers panel.
Agenda and registration is available on the event’s page.
