EU-PolarNet is hosting a townhall event in Brussels, themed ‘Towards the 1.5°C climate goal – Contributions of Polar Research’. The objective is to stimulate a dialogue between national policy makers, polar scientists, industries, local communities and civil society to explore how future polar research can contribute to the ‘1.5°C target’ agreed at the COP 21 in Paris last year. Keynote addresses and high-level expert panels will set the scene for thought-provoking discussions focused on what European society needs from polar research and what Europe’s priorities for polar research should be.
