Baltic International Symposium: bridging the divide between satellite and in-situ sensing for marine ecosystem assessment

Date
28/08/2016 - 31/08/2016

7th Baltic International Symposium will focus on remote sensing applications and aims at attracting wide audience of researchers, students and managers.

The programme will feature the following topics:

  1. Remote sensing techniques and integrated ocean observation systems: Global Ocean Observation systems, satellite systems, real time measurements, monitoring systems, data collection, analysis and distribution, data standards & calibration, algorithms.
  2. Autonomous platforms for ground-truthing the remote data: New sensors, autonomous and surface vessels, gliders, profiling floats, remotely operated vehicles, autonomous underwater vehicles.
  3. Remote sensing in service to safe and ecosystem-based management of activity in the sea: Adaptation to Climate Change, fishery and aquaculture, renewable energy, gas pipelines, pollutants. Protection and restoration of habitats; remediation; coastal protection.
  4. Remote sensing of effects of climate change in marine ecosystems: Water quality, hydrology,
sediment transport, coastal processes, biogeochemistry, eutrophication, marine biodiversity, food web effects, natural hazards, input data for ecosystem modelling.
