Call for Abstracts Open: ISOBAY Symposium 2026 hosted by AZTI

The Call for Abstracts for ISOBAY 2026, 19th International Symposium on Oceanography of the Bay of Biscay is now open, hosted by our member AZTI. The event will take place at the Kursaal Congress Centre in Donostia–San Sebastián.

ISOBAY is a biennial multidisciplinary meeting dedicated to the study of the Bay of Biscay—from the coastal zone to the open sea and transitional waters. It has become an important forum for scientists, early-career researchers and practitioners engaged in understanding and managing this dynamic marine environment.

The organisers welcome contributions on the following topics:

  • Physical oceanography
  • Climate–ocean relations
  • Geology, erosion, transport and sedimentation
  • Biogeochemical cycles
  • Biodiversity, structure and functioning of ecosystems
  • Fisheries and aquaculture
  • Blue technologies, marine resources and marine spatial planning
  • Anthropogenic effects, quality assessment and ecosystem management

Both classical abstracts and extended abstracts may be submitted. Accepted abstracts will be included in the symposium’s Book of Abstracts, and a special issue in Continental Shelf Research is planned for selected papers arising from ISOBAY 19 contributions.
