We are pleased to share the next session in the GOOS BioEco Essential Ocean Variable (EOV) Webinar Series, organised by GOOS—the Global Ocean Observing System. Tthis event will focus on two key EOVs: Ocean Sound and Fish Abundance and Distribution.
The session will introduce the draft specification and implementation plan for the Ocean Sound EOV, detailing what, when, where, and how to measure sound in the marine environment, and why these observations matter for understanding ecosystems and human pressures.
The webinar will also present the draft specification for the Fish Abundance and Distribution EOV, essential for monitoring marine ecosystems, supporting sustainable fisheries, and improving global food security. Standardised methods will help enhance coordination and data integration across observing systems at regional and global scales.
This session is part of the GOOS BioEco EOV Webinar Series, co-organised by GOOS, the EU-funded BioEcoOcean project, MBON, and the AIR Centre.
