International Ocean Data Conference – III (IODC-III)

Date
10/03/2025 - 11/03/2025

We are pleased to announce that the Chair of the DataMEQ Working Group, Thierry Carval, will be presenting at the International Ocean Data Conference, contributing to discussions on capacity development and data exchange in the context of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030).

The EuroGOOS Data Policy plays a crucial role in supporting the digital ocean ecosystem, ensuring open and FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) access to key ocean data. Effective data sharing is essential for advancing ocean science, informing policy, and sustaining the blue economy.

This session will explore how the EuroGOOS Data Policy aligns with international frameworks such as WMO, GOOS, ICES, and SOOS, promoting seamless ocean data exchange. By enforcing transparent and standardized data sharing, the policy enhances scientific collaboration and supports key initiatives, including the Copernicus Marine Service and EMODnet.

The presentation will provide insights into how improved ocean data circulation can help address global challenges, strengthen marine policies, and support the co-development of a digital ocean ecosystem—a key legacy of the Ocean Decade.

📢 Join us to learn more about the role of data policy in shaping the future of ocean science and sustainability!
