Monitoring the Mediterranean Sea with in-situ instrumentation is a vital endeavour to face the challenges in the region: climate change, coastal erosion, water quality, etc. Different institutions have implemented measuring networks and programmes integrated today in the MONGOOS data centre. However, the system is suffering from unsustainable funding and lacks coordination. The upcoming workshop will explore the current state of play and look ahead. The event will take place from 14 to 15 November, back to back with the annual MONGOOS general assembly on 16 November. Patrick Gorringe and Glenn Nolan will attend these meetings.
