The next annual international Our Ocean Conference will be hosted by the European Union and take place in Malta. The Our Ocean conferences focus on the key ocean issues of our time – marine protected areas, sustainable fisheries, marine pollution, and climate-related impacts on the ocean. The conferences are engaging, inspiring, and interactive events with an unwavering emphasis on commitments around the globe.
The Our Ocean conference series was initiated by the US Department of State with the organization of the first Our Ocean Conference in Washington D.C. Individuals, experts, practitioners, advocates, lawmakers, and the international ocean and foreign policy communities from nearly 90 countries came together to gather lessons learned, share the best science, offer unique perspectives, and demonstrate effective actions. The following conferences took place in Chile in 2015 and again in Washington D.C. in 2016.
EuroGOOS will represent its community and wider European ocean observing at the conference exhibition. Erik Buch and Dina Eparkhina are attending and presenting at the pitch stage.
