Evolving and Sustaining Ocean Best Practices

Date
15/11/2017 - 17/11/2017

The AtlantOS and ODIP projects, JCOMMOCG and IODE will hold this workshop to address the growing need for global and sustainable ocean best practice management. The management includes a sustainable repository with easy discovery and access for best practices. Interoperability is also considered a key requirement as more people are working on interdisciplinary issues in the global context of understanding ocean dynamics and ecosystems.

The workshop will provide an opportunity for representatives of the global ocean observing community to guide the creation of a new process for best practice management. The outcomes of the workshop will include a review of the prototype repository of best practices and a position paper on sustaining ocean best practices. In addition, the delegates will work towards a session paper for OceanObs’19, as well as addressing options to support a sustainable global standards and best practice initiative (including possible submission for a SCOR Working Group). Vicente Fernandez will represent EuroGOOS at this meeting.
