A successful European HF Radar meeting takes place in Lisbon

A European HF Radar meeting was held as a side event to the EuroGOOS Conference on 27th October. 55 participants, 21 presentations ranging from local, regional to global scale and besides European representatives also representatives from US IOOS and from the major HF Radar manufacturers (CODAR, WERA) contributed to a very successful and highly appreciated event. The meeting established the basis for a motivated, not project depended, dynamic group that is already linking to similar international initiatives (GEO Global High Frequency (HF) Radar Network Component) to facilitate the adoption of an harmonized technology at European level and support key European end user requirements (e.g. EMSA).

This high resolution, high frequency delivery data platform is fundamental for downscaling the information in a complementary way to satellite and other in situ platforms.

A HF Radar task team has been recently established within EuroGOOS to facilitate the process.
