Advancing Operational Oceanography across Europe

EuroGOOS is the European component of the Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS) of UNESCO. Based in Brussels, it brings together 48 members and supports five regional systems to strengthen and coordinate ocean observations. By identifying priorities, fostering collaboration, and promoting the value of operational oceanography, EuroGOOS drives the sustained measurements needed to deliver fit-for-purpose marine services.

Digital Ocean Week & 9th Copernicus Marine General Assembly in Brussels

The Digital Ocean Week will be held in Brussels, Belgium from 8 to 12 June 2026, organised by our member Mercator Ocean International.

This week will bring together scientists, policymakers, technology experts and users of marine data to explore the latest achievements of the Copernicus Marine Service along with the growing role of Artificial Intelligence and the European Digital Twin Ocean.

PLOCAN opens applications for the 16th edition of its International Glider School

Our member, the Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN) has announced the opening of applications for the 16th edition of its Glider School, the leading hands-on ocean-glider technology training forum, scheduled to take place at PLOCAN headquarters from 19 to 23 October, 2026. The application window runs until 30 June.

New call for proposals on supporting Arctic communities

The European Commission has launched a new call for proposals with co-funding of up to €300,000 to support awareness-raising initiatives focused on Arctic communities, including youth and indigenous people. The call is funded under the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF).

EuroGOOS at European Maritime Day 2026: Connecting Ocean Observing and the Blue Economy

EuroGOOS is participating in EMD2026 in Limassol together with the sister projects BioEcoOcean, ObsSea4Clim, and BioGeoSea at the joint exhibition booth. Together, the projects highlight how collaboration and innovation in ocean observing can support science, policy, and a sustainable blue economy. Don’t miss the workshop “Shaping Ocean Observing Needs with Blue Economy” on 22 May (15:05–16:20).
