Researchers, innovators and organisations working in the blue economy are invited to apply for the Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership (SBEP) Rolling Transnational Access Call to Research Infrastructures (2026–2028). The call offers access to a unique network of marine and maritime research infrastructures across Europe, supporting cutting-edge research and innovation for a more sustainable blue economy.

The European Commission has adopted its first dedicated strategies for islands and coastal communities, establishing a coordinated EU approach to address their specific challenges and unlock their long-term potential. The initiatives aim to strengthen economic opportunities, connectivity, resilience and quality of life for the 17 million people living on EU islands and the 95 million people residing in coastal areas.

The DITTO Summit 2026, the flagship international event of the Digital Twins of the Ocean (DITTO) programme under the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, will take place on 11–13 November 2026 in Yokohama, Japan. Bringing together researchers, policymakers, industry leaders, and technology innovators, the Summit will explore operational and interoperable digital twins that support ocean protection, climate resilience, sustainable governance, and blue economy innovation

 The European Commission has launched a new call for proposals with co-funding of up to €300,000 to support awareness-raising initiatives focused on Arctic communities, including youth and indigenous people. The call is funded under the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF).

EuroGOOS is participating in EMD2026 in Limassol together with the sister projects BioEcoOcean, ObsSea4Clim, and BioGeoSea at the joint exhibition booth. Together, the projects highlight how collaboration and innovation in ocean observing can support science, policy, and a sustainable blue economy.
