The Polar Argo Workshop 2026 will take place in June 2026 and will focus on advances and future directions for Polar Argo observations and their role in monitoring high-latitude oceans. The call for abstracts is now open.

The EGU has this week launched a new publication, Earth Observation (EO), an open-access, two-stage journal with open and public peer review, following the model of other EGU journals, published by Copernicus Publications.
The contract will support the implementation of EU sea basin strategies in the Atlantic Ocean, Black Sea, Western Mediterranean and North Sea, providing tailored technical assistance to the European Commission, Member States and partner countries.
The initiative aims to strengthen European coordination in ocean observation, improve access to reliable marine data, and position the EU as a global leader in ocean knowledge and related technologies,
The treaty establishes a global framework to protect biodiversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction, which cover nearly two-thirds of the world’s oceans.

Seascape Belgium has launched a survey inviting the eDNA community—from sampling to publishing—to provide feedback on proposed recommendations for a more harmonised aquatic eDNA data ecosystem. The results will contribute to the eDNAqua-Plan Technical Blueprint and Roadmap, supporting the development of FAIR and interoperable eDNA data practices.
The feedback will support the preparation of a Joint Communication expected in Q3 2026, ensuring the policy remains fit to address evolving climatic, environmental and geopolitical challenges in the Arctic.

Across its Members, ROOS networks, Working Groups, and European projects, EuroGOOS continued to reinforce Europe’s ocean observing capacity and its contribution to global ocean knowledge.
