Webinar: Best Practices in Ocean Observing
Date: 10 November 2026 - 28 October 2026
Type: Virtual
The Frontiers in Marine Science Research Topic “Best Practices in Ocean Observing” is hosting a community webinar focused on developing and assessing best practices in ocean observation.
As ocean observing expands across regions, platforms, and disciplines, well-documented best practices are essential for ensuring that ocean data is comparable, reliable, and reusable.
Scheduled to accommodate participants from Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, the webinar will explore how ocean observing methods become recognised community standards and how Biological and Ecosystem Essential Ocean Variables (EOVs) contribute to this process.
Programme
- Developing an Ocean Best Practice - Dr. Rachel Przeslawski
- Essential Ocean Variables as Best Practices - Dr. Clive McMahon
- Live Q&A and open discussion
The webinar is open to researchers, ocean observing professionals, and anyone interested in advancing ocean data standards and best practices. The Research Topic is also welcoming new manuscript submissions until 31 December 2026, with individual extensions available upon request.
Join the discussion and learn how community-driven best practices can strengthen global ocean observing efforts.
