ObsSea4Clim Training: Marine extremes in European seas - indicators and precursors

This training session, organised by the Horizon Project ObsSea4Clim, will introduce the concept of extreme ocean indicators, and discuss their definition and relevance for understanding precursors. We will focus on examples of extreme temperature indicators in European seas.
The training will address the following:
- What do we need in order to define a marine extreme?
- Detection of large-scale atmospheric precursors, using the example of the Mediterranean Sea.
- Understanding of ocean preconditioning
Audience: Early career researchers and scientists working in oceanography, ocean observing, climate prediction, ESM climate modelling, data management, and the wider climate science scientific community.
