NOOS Annual Meeting

We are pleased to announce the upcoming NOOS Annual Meeting, bringing together experts and stakeholders working on operational oceanography in the Northwest European Shelf region.

The meeting programme will begin at noon on Tuesday and conclude around noon on Thursday.

Travel Requirements

Please note that most visitors to the United Kingdom will require either a Standard Visitor Visa or an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), depending on their nationality. Participants are encouraged to check the latest requirements well in advance of their travel arrangements.

Venue Access and Security

The meeting will be hosted at the UK Met Office. As the Met Office is a government organisation, all delegates must be registered in advance as part of the meeting registration process. Participants will also be required to present a valid photo ID upon arrival for security purposes.

Opportunity for Early-Career Scientists

As part of its commitment to fostering the next generation of oceanographers, NOOS has provided opportunities for early-career scientists to attend its Annual Meetings. These initiatives help young researchers build professional networks, exchange knowledge, and engage with the wider Northwest European Shelf operational oceanography community.

“I really appreciated the opportunity to attend the 2025 NOOS Annual Meeting. I got to meet many other scientists from different countries also working on Northwest European Shelf oceanography, who I likely wouldn’t have had the chance to connect with otherwise. Hearing about the range of NOOS research has been valuable to my work and has given me a sense of community as a shelf seas researcher.”
