EXPANDEO 2026

Date: 10 June 2026 - 11 June 2026

Type: Hybrid

EXPANDEO is where the European Earth Observation (EO) community comes together to connect, collaborate, and explore new opportunities. Hosted by EARSC, this annual conference is the go-to event for businesses, policymakers, and users looking to unlock the full potential of EO.

As the geopolitical context evolves and new needs arise, this year they will explore how EO solutions can support a more secure and resilient Europe. From sustainable water and land management policies, dual-use technologies supporting defence and civil security, to innovation and data landscapes.

Panel: Unlocking the power of Earth Observation for the Ocean

In June 2025, the European Commission adopted the EU Ocean Pact, an overarching strategy for all ocean-related EU policies. In this framework, the Commission has been working on several initiatives, including the upcoming EU Ocean Act (which mainly aims to strengthen and modernise Maritime Spatial Planning), a European Ocean Research and Innovation Strategy, and the recently announced OceanEye, an EU Ocean Monitoring and Observation Initiative. This session aims to understand how Earth observation can support the overall objectives of the EU Ocean Pact, the implementation of the future EU Ocean Act, and help address the challenges in EU's ocean observation efforts, bringing together European and international stakeholders across the ecosystem.
