World Oceans Day at IOC

Date
08/06/2016

WOD-8JuneThe World Oceans Day 2016 is themed “Healthy Ocean, Healthy Planet”. On this occasion, the UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, IOC, is organizing round tables, an exhibition, a UNESCO Campus for youth, and a Roger Revelle Memorial Lecture on ocean acidification. Dina Eparkhina will attend the events and represent EuroGOOS and its ocean observing partners at the exhibition.

By bringing together the scientific community, Member State representatives, political decision makers, civil society, and youth representatives, World Oceans Day activities at the UNESCO Headquarters provide a unique framework for action towards protecting marine ecosystems. World Oceans Day is an occasion to raise awareness on the protection of the ocean and to discuss ways to further develop and share scientific knowledge on ocean-related issues.
