Ensuring Good Environmental Status of EU marine waters through efficient monitoring programmes

This event is the final SMS project conference taking place at the European Parliament chaired by MEP Ricardo Serrao Santos. The project will present its research results related to monitoring seawater chemical and ecological status in real time and in situ. The event will also demonstrate innovative methodologies to detect, identify and measure emerging pollutants.

Vicente Fernandez, EuroGOOS science officer, will deliver a talk at the event. The EuroGOOS talk will highlight the current gaps in the delivery of biogeochemical in situ measurements and related technological needs. Furthermore, the importance of knowledge transfer from project to innovation and into existing observing systems is critical. In this respect EuroGOOS will highlight the role of the H2020 COLUMBUS project on knowledge transfer.
