EUROFLEETS ship-based training courses for European students

Two practical multidisciplinary ship-based training courses for European Graduate and Postgraduate Students of Marine Related Sciences are available within the EUROFLEETS programme to be held in summer 2014.

1. Multidisciplinary Ship-based training for European graduates and postgraduates students of marine related sciences – 4th – 9th July 2014, Messina- Italy

The RV Urania practical ship-based training course is designed to enable Postgraduates and Graduate Students to acquire the practical skills necessary to conduct offshore multidisciplinary marine science research through the core disciplines of Physical and Chemical Oceanography, Marine Biology and Geosciences.

This 6 days course will comprise four days of multidisciplinary ship-based training, and two days of shore-based RV logistics and survey planning (pre-survey day), data processing, analysis and integration (post-survey day).

Participation in this course, including on-board accommodation and subsistence, is funded through EUROFLEETS and the National Research Council of Italy. All other expenses, including travel and land accommodation will be borne by students.

2. Practical shipboard training course for PhD students on new technologies for Multidisciplinary Oceanographic Research – Tallinn, Estonia, August 17th-22nd, 2014

This training course aboard RV Salme is designed to teach PhD Students advanced practical skills in new technologies for multidisciplinary oceanographic research (including gliders, autonomous profilers, ferryboxes, and towed instruments).

The 6 days course includes two days of ship-based training and four days of shore-based training in data processing, analysis and integration, research vessel logistics and survey planning. Participation in this course is funded by EUROFLEETS and the Technical University of Tallinn. students will be accommodated in campus hostel free of charge. Students are liable for their own travel expenses to and from Tallinn.
